Description

It is one of the mountains located in the Cordillera Blanca, within the Huascarán National Park, Ancash. Its top can be easily seen from the city of Huaraz. The peak has an altitude of 5,685 meters and is technically considered a 5,000 medium climb, and the advantage is that it can be done in just 2 days.

However, any ascent to a peak implies certain risks and therefore requires: adequate prior acclimatization, the necessary technical equipment, qualified mountain guides and experience hiking in rugged areas.

IMPORTANT:

  • We recommend minimum of 3 days of acclimatization before the ascent

Day 01: Transport from Huaraz to Llaca - hike to base camp of Vallunaraju 

 

Day 2: Summit day to Vallunaraju. Return to base camp and then to Llaca valley. Transport to Huaraz.

  • Transport: From your hotel in Huaraz to the starting point of the trek, and from the end of the trek to your hotel in Huaraz.
  • Camping: Good quality mountain tents (2 people per tent), mattresses and kitchen utensils.
  • Technical mountainnering equipments (ice axes, rope, helmet, crampons, harnes)
  • Meals: Breakfast, box lunch and dinner (option for vegetarians).
  • Guide: Certified mountain guide (English or Spanish) for another language by request.
  • Cook: (for group more than 3 people) trained cook to prepare the food at the base camp.

  • Entrance fee to Huascaran National Park
  • Personal mountaineering equipment: Sleeping bag, clothes for cold (it is possible to rent in Huaraz), mountaineering boots, jacket and/or waterproof pants, gloves, backpack, flashlight, sunglasse, buff, etc.
  • Additional costs: as a result of leaving the trek early, emergency rescue and/or evacuation, extra food or drinks in towns, medical treatment.
  • Breakfast the first day and dinner the last day.
